₹1.03 lakh crore ‘green budget’ focuses on infrastructure, water, and civic upgrades

The Delhi government has earmarked ₹260 crore to provide two free LPG cylinders to every household annually one each during Holi and Diwali chief minister Rekha Gupta announced while presenting the 2026–27 budget. The total outlay stands at ₹1,03,700 crore, with ₹11,666 crore allocated to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Termed a “green budget,” the plan emphasises infrastructure, sustainability, and improved civic services. Tax revenue is projected at ₹74,000 crore, while key allocations include ₹5,921 crore for the Public Works Department and ₹7,887 crore for urban development and housing.

The Delhi Jal Board has been allotted ₹9,000 crore for water and sewage management, alongside ₹3,942 crore for the power sector. Funds have also been set aside for dust-free roads, fire services, and development in trans-Yamuna areas.

Gupta said the budget aims to deliver better connectivity, cleaner infrastructure, and efficient public services for a growing capital.
