State and district screening committees established to preserve ideological identity amid influx of defectors

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent warning about the “ills of Congress,” Haryana BJP has launched a defensive strategy to protect its ideological core. State President Mohan Lal Badoli announced multi-tier screening committees Tuesday to scrutinize all new party entrants.
The state-level panel includes BJP Parliamentary Board member Sudha Yadav, minister Krishan Bedi, and former ministers Kanwar Pal Gurjar and Subhash Sudha. District committees with three to four members will replicate this vetting process locally.
Senior party leaders acknowledge Haryana BJP’s growth trajectory differs from traditional strongholds like Gujarat or Rajasthan, relying heavily on defectors from Congress, INLD, JJP, and Haryana Vikas Party. “We must strike a balance—welcoming electoral winners while preventing complete takeover by newcomers,” a party insider explained.
The initiative aims to maintain BJP’s distinct identity while managing the delicate power equation between original members and lateral entrants.
