New Delhi formally joins Pax Silica, America’s AI and semiconductor security coalition, becoming its tenth and most strategically significant member

India formally joines Pax Silica on Friday, signing the US-led declaration at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi completing a geopolitical journey that began with a conspicuous exclusion just two months ago.

The move gives Washington its biggest win yet in the race to shape who has access to advanced semiconductors and AI infrastructure supply chains. Launched at a Washington summit in December 2025, Pax Silica is a US State Department flagship initiative aimed at safeguarding the global semiconductor and AI ecosystem and reducing dependence on non-aligned or adversarial nations.

India’s absence from that inaugural summit had triggered sharp political criticism in New Delhi. The wound was swiftly addressed when US Ambassador Sergio Gor announced India’s invitation in January, writing that “it is essential that India and the United States work hand-in-hand together.”

The US also announced a new “concierge service” to help Pax Silica members acquire American-made AI semiconductors more efficiently ,effectively turning diplomats into business development officers for US technology exports.

India now joins Australia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Singapore, the UK and the UAE in what Washington calls an economic security coalition built for the AI age.
