Manoj Sinha lays foundation for 60 AMRUT 2.0 projects; calls for replicating Jammu’s green initiatives across UT

Jammu, September 29, 2025 – Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated 60 urban development projects worth ₹699.79 crore under AMRUT 2.0 during ‘Sewa Parv’ celebrations organized by the Housing & Urban Development Department.

Addressing the gathering, Sinha emphasized inclusive development aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring “no one should be left behind.” He highlighted sustainable urban planning as critical to building future-ready cities while mitigating environmental challenges.

The LG cited Jammu’s Tawi Riverfront as an exemplary sustainable development project, noting it acted as a “protective shield” during recent natural disasters by preventing flooding in surrounding areas. He directed officials to replicate Jammu Municipal Corporation’s Swachhata Internship Program and Green Colony initiative across other cities in the Union Territory.

Calling for integration of smart technology and strict enforcement of environmental regulations, Sinha urged officials and citizens to cultivate ownership of urban assets and public spaces.

During the event, the LG felicitated students under the Swachhata Internship for best models and honored Swachhagrahis for their contributions during the Amarnath Yatra. Sanction letters under various schemes were distributed to beneficiaries.

The ceremony was attended by MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Gulam Ali Khatana, DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan, MLAs, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and senior officials alongside representatives from NGOs and local residents.
