LG Kavinder Gupta unveils eSeva-based system to enhance transparency, efficiency, and citizen access across the Union Territory

The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has taken a significant step toward digital governance with the launch of an online system for new water connections. Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta inaugurated the service on the Ladakh eSeva platform on Tuesday, marking a major advancement in citizen-centric service delivery.
The new digital facility enables residents to apply for domestic and commercial tap water connections and track application status online reducing paperwork, limiting repeated office visits, and ensuring faster processing. Highlighting Ladakh’s unique geographical challenges, the LG said that digital solutions are essential for improving access to government services in remote and high-altitude settlements.
He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Digital India vision and will not only improve transparency but also strengthen administrative efficiency. The LG also called for a robust water fee collection mechanism to ensure sustainability and high-quality service delivery.
Administrative Secretary PHE, Shri Rahul Sharma, presented an overview of the portal and noted upcoming integration of fee collection under Jal Jeevan Mission to be managed by local Pani Samitis.
The launch event was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal and senior officials from NIC and the PHE Department.
