Middle school status granted under Samagra Shiksha programme; 50 more government schools earmarked for similar transformation





Leh, December 8 :Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta inaugurated the newly upgraded Ladakh Model School on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the region’s education infrastructure development. Previously operating as a Primary Model School, the institution now functions as a Middle School under the Samagra Shiksha programme.
Addressing parents, students, and educators, the LG emphasized that National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is successfully driving inclusive learning even in geographically challenging regions like Ladakh. The upgrade enables children in Ibex Colony to complete uninterrupted schooling through Class 8 locally, eliminating travel burdens and enhancing safety,particularly benefiting girl students.
“Education is not just a system; it is a nation’s most powerful tool for transformation,” stated Shri Gupta, reaffirming the UT Administration’s commitment to quality education for all children despite harsh weather and resource constraints.
Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha announced ambitious plans to upgrade 50 additional government schools across Ladakh with advanced teaching facilities, including digital classrooms and innovative pedagogical methods.
Notably, several parents reported shifting their children from private institutions to Ladakh Model School, expressing confidence in government education quality,a significant validation of ongoing reforms.
The event also featured inaugurations of newly constructed classrooms and Bal Vatikas.
