University to Establish Specialized Language Faculty, Achieve TCS Priority College Status

Jammu, October 13, 2025 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the 36th Executive Council meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) at Raj Bhawan, focusing on transforming the institution into a premier national-level educational hub.

The council, attended by vice chancellors from leading universities including Jammu, Kashmir, and IIT Jammu, approved several key initiatives aligned with the National Education Policy 2020. LG Sinha emphasized comprehensive curriculum updates, enhanced industry collaboration, and increased student enrollment.

A major directive issued was the establishment of a specialized language faculty offering integrated courses in Hindi, Dogri, French, and German, encouraging technical students to pursue regional languages alongside their core programs.

The Lieutenant Governor also mandated complete digitalization of university records and reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects. The council discussed faculty advancement, student life cycle management through the e-Samarth dashboard, and research initiatives.

In a significant achievement, SMVDU has been designated as a ‘TCS Priority College’ by Tata Consultancy Services for three years, strengthening campus placement opportunities. The meeting underscored the university’s commitment to lifelong learning, skill enhancement, innovation, and community engagement.
