In a powerful demonstration of democratic consciousness, residents of Samhuta village in Kutumba constituency of Aurangabad district, have launched the “booth nahin to vote nahin”campaign, showcasing how rural Bihar is becoming increasingly assertive about electoral rights and civic entitlements.

As per our sources in Bihar, this movement represents a remarkable evolution in rural political awareness, where citizens are no longer passive recipients of governance but active stakeholders demanding accountability and accessibility.

“We know our rights and we will exercise them responsibly,” one of the villagers informed the correspondent. “Democracy means equal access for everyone, and traveling 5 kilometers just to vote is not equality.”

The villagers’ approach demonstrates sophisticated civic engagement, they first followed proper channels by submitting a formal application to the Block Development Officer, showing respect for administrative processes while maintaining firm resolve for their legitimate demands.

What makes this movement particularly significant is its constructive nature. Rather than rejecting the democratic system, the villagers are demanding fuller participation in it. Their call for a polling station at the local primary school is both practical and progressive, ensuring that elderly citizens, women, and differently-abled community members can exercise their franchise without hardship.

As per sources in the district, this educated form of protest is inspiring other villages to articulate their infrastructure needs more strategically. The“booth nahin to vote nahin” campaign exemplifies how grassroots democracy is maturing, with citizens understanding that voting rights must be coupled with voting accessibility.
