Arson, stone-pelting and vandalism reported in Phase-2 and Sector 60; paramilitary forces deployed at UP-Delhi border points as thousands of commuters remain stranded

Delhi Police was placed on high alert Monday after a wage protest by factory workers in Noida’s industrial sectors escalated rapidly into violence, forcing authorities to seal key entry points into the national capital and deploy paramilitary rapid response teams at all major border crossings.
Thousands of workers from various industrial units had gathered to demand long-overdue salary revisions. The demonstration, however, quickly turned volatile. Incidents of arson, stone-pelting and vandalism were reported from Noida’s Phase-2 and Sector 60 areas, with government vehicles set ablaze by agitators. Police vehicles were also targeted during the unrest.
Senior Delhi Police officers confirmed that multiple teams have been positioned at all motorable roads connecting Noida to Delhi, with thorough vehicle checks underway to prevent any spillover of violence into the capital.
“Delhi Police is fully alert and vigilant. Adequate force has been deployed at all strategic locations. No one will be allowed to breach law and order,” a senior officer stated.
Authorities confirmed active coordination with Uttar Pradesh Police as the situation remained tense. Several thousand commuters were reported stuck in massive traffic jams across border roads leading into Delhi.
