National President Visits Residence, Pays Last Respects to First Delhi BJP President and Bharatiya

New Delhi, September 30, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party lost one of its founding pillars today
with the passing of Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the first President of Delhi State BJP whose political
journey spanned five decades from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh era. BJP National President and Union
Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda visited Malhotra’s residence to pay last respects and offer
condolences to the bereaved family.
Nadda’s Personal Tribute
Shri Nadda expressed profound grief, stating, "The demise of Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra ji,a senior
leader forever dedicated to the organization from Bharatiya Jana Sangh to Bharatiya Janata Party,is
extremely saddening." He viewed the mortal remains and met grief-stricken family members to
express condolences.
A Life of Simplicity and Service
Nadda emphasized Malhotra’s defining qualities: ‘Malhotra ji remained committed to simplicity,
purity, and unwavering dedication to the organization. He was instrumental in expanding the party’s
reach in Delhi while molding countless workers for nation and public service. His struggle for
organizational expansion and sacrifice for society upliftment are unforgettable and remain a source
of inspiration for all BJP workers.’
Distinguished Parliamentary Career
Prof. Malhotra represented Delhi as Member of Parliament five times and served twice as MLA. He
was Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, President of Delhi Pradesh Jana Sangh,
and Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, remaining the true voice of the people throughout
his legislative tenure.
As the first President of Delhi BJP, Malhotra built the party’s grassroots infrastructure in the national
capital, laying the foundation for its eventual political dominance.
