In the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls, the NDA allocates 31% of tickets to upper castes, while the Grand Alliance backs 13% Muslim and 15% Yadav candidates

Patna :As nominations wrap up for the 2025 Bihar elections, both major blocs are heavily relying on caste strategy. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has allocated around 31 % of its tickets to upper-caste candidates (85 out of 243 seats), with Rajputs receiving 15.6 % (38 tickets) and Bhumihars 13.2 % (32 tickets).

On the flip side, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) has given roughly 15 % of its seats to Yadav candidates (62 seats) and about 13 % to Muslim candidates within its quota. These figures reflect the shifting priorities as parties reshape their electoral bases.

Analysts say the NDA’s push for upper-cast representation signals an attempt to expand beyond its traditional OBC and EBC support, whereas the Grand Alliance is reinforcing its strength among minorities and Yadavs. With both coalitions banking on identity politics, the results will offer a telling snapshot of Bihar’s evolving electoral map.
