Party fields contenders in Narkatiaganj, Kishanganj, Kasba, Purnia and Gaya Town as seat-sharing talks within Mahagathbandhan remain unresolved

Congress released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, adding five new names to the 48 announced earlier. The list covers the constituencies of Narkatiaganj, Kishanganj, Kasba, Purnia, and Gaya Town.

According to the party’s announcement, Shaswat Kedar Pandey will contest from Narkatiaganj, while Qamrul Hoda has been fielded from Kishanganj. Irfan Alam, Jitender Yadav, and Mohan Shrivasta will represent Congress from Kasba, Purnia, and Gaya Town respectively.

Polling for Bihar’s 243-seat assembly will take place in two phases November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. However, the Mahagathbandhan alliance, comprising the RJD and Congress, has yet to finalise its seat-sharing arrangement, leading to a few “friendly contests” among allies.

In a surprise move, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced it would contest six seats independently, distancing itself from the alliance in Bihar.
