India joins the global elite to successfully test Train Launched Missile Systems. It becomes the 4th Nation in the world to have this incredible capability. Agni-Prime missile fired from specially designed railway launcher at Chandipur, joining Russia, China, North Korea.
India successfully tested its Agni-Prime missile from a specialized train-mounted mobile launcher system on Wednesday night at Odisha’s Chandipur Integrated Test Range. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed this historic achievement, making India the fourth country globally to demonstrate rail-based missile launch capabilities after Russia, China, and North Korea.
The canisterized launching system allows the specially designed train to reach any location connected by India’s extensive 70,000-kilometer railway network. This strategic advancement enables concealment in rail tunnels and rapid deployment under cover of darkness or adverse weather conditions, significantly enhancing India’s defensive mobility and stealth capabilities.
