Priyanka Gandhi leads protest over Ram Mandir donation row as sloganeering paralyses Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha

Parliament’s monsoon session witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were repeatedly adjourned amid heavy sloganeering by Opposition MPs demanding accountability over the alleged Ram Temple donation theft row.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm shortly after proceedings began, with Opposition members protesting the absence of Home Minister Amit Shah from the House. The Rajya Sabha saw similar disruptions in two rounds ,first adjourned till 12 pm, and later again till 2 pm as members created a ruckus over the absence of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah amid the donation controversy.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi joined other Opposition leaders in a protest ahead of the session. Congress MP Manickam Tagore alleged that MPs were being physically pushed and their path blocked. Congress’s Pawan Khera remarked that the Home Minister apparently considered it “a very big deal” to attend the House.

Meanwhile, PM Modi attended the NDA Parliamentary Party’s “Mangal Milan” meeting. The government also introduced the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Indian Statistical Institute Bill, while Congress sought a discussion on the anti-defection law.
