After last month’s student agitation, Cockroach Janta Party signals wider campaign on education and public issues
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday announced that “Jantar Mantar Season 2” would begin soon, signalling a fresh phase of activism following last month’s student-led protests in Delhi.
“Many people were commenting on Instagram when Season 2 of Jantar Mantar will begin. I want to tell them that Season 2 is going to start very soon,” Dipke said.
The reference comes after a major student mobilisation at Jantar Mantar over alleged examination irregularities, student suicides and demands for education reforms. The protests intensified political pressure and were followed by Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Union education minister.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the “second season” would extend beyond another demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He said the group was planning a nationwide “listening tour” to understand public concerns, with education as an immediate priority.
The organisation has also announced its “School Thik Karo” campaign from August 15, focusing on basic infrastructure and facilities in government schools, particularly in rural areas.
Dipke said the campaign would begin from his village in Maharashtra and involve sarpanches, parents and local residents.
The CJP has also backed a recent protest by schoolchildren in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur over a badly damaged road connecting villages to schools.
Meanwhile, Dipke alleged that venue owners in Delhi faced pressure over a proposed CJP volunteers’ meeting. He blamed the BJP, though the allegation could not be independently verified.
CJP, which began as a satirical digital initiative, is increasingly positioning itself as a pressure group focused on youth, education and governance.
