Police say girl was lured with chocolates over several occasions; case registered under POCSO Act after CCTV review helped identify driver

New Delhi, Aug 31: A three-year-old nursery student was allegedly sexually abused by a cab driver employed at her private school in Delhi’s Bawana area, police said. The accused, identified as Vikas, has been arrested and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, cited by news agency ANI, the child’s mother noticed a change in her behaviour and, on questioning, the girl mentioned a “bad uncle” who gave her chocolates. The parents alerted the school administration, which reviewed CCTV footage to help identify the man, since the child did not know his name.

Police said footage showed the accused carrying chocolates and following the child to the washroom area on the day of the incident, where the abuse allegedly took place under a staircase. The school subsequently informed police, leading to the FIR.

Officials said the accused had been driving a cab for the school for around eight months. During investigation, police reportedly found videos on his phone showing him giving chocolates to other young children. Authorities are now working to identify these children in order to provide counselling and support.

The school’s CCTV footage has been taken into custody as evidence, and investigation is ongoing.
