CJP’s Saurav Das says posts against Bhatia will be deleted within 24 hours; BJP spokesperson responds with “No comments”
The war of words between BJP spokesperson and senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia and Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convenor Saurav Das continued on Thursday following a hearing in Bhatia’s defamation suit before the Delhi High Court.
The court asked Das and fellow CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka to remove certain allegedly objectionable posts concerning Bhatia. Their counsel assured the court that the posts would be taken down within 24 hours.
The court, however, declined to immediately impose a broader restraint on Das and Ranka from posting further content. In view of their undertaking, it instead directed social media platforms Meta and X to take down identical posts in the future if Bhatia flags them.
The dispute has centred on social-media posts targeting Bhatia, including one featuring an edited image portraying him without trousers.
After the hearing, Das said on X that he and Ranka had voluntarily agreed to delete the posts following the judge’s suggestion. He also claimed that the court rejected Bhatia’s request for a “dynamic injunction” against them.
Das further said the court had suggested that the dispute could have been settled amicably rather than through litigation. He said the two CJP leaders had agreed to remove the posts while maintaining that they had full faith in the judicial process.
Bhatia, meanwhile, responded to the developments on X with a brief “No comments” post. He also shared headlines reporting the court proceedings and the undertaking to remove the posts.
The defamation case remains at the centre of the public dispute, with both sides continuing to exchange remarks on social media even as the court-supervised process moves forward.
