Beyond Conscious releases “Modi Ka Asar,” a tribute composed entirely with artificial intelligence in the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan tradition
New Delhi, September 17 : A qawwali composed entirely by artificial intelligence has been released to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, in what its creators describe as a tribute bridging Sufi devotional tradition and generative technology.
The track, Modi Ka Asar, comes from Beyond Conscious, an AI music channel that produces devotional and cultural compositions. The piece draws on the vocal idiom of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the Pakistani qawwal whose recordings carried the form to audiences well beyond South Asia. It layers tabla percussion, harmonium passages and multi-voiced choral responses in the conventional qawwali structure, all synthesised rather than performed.
“We wanted to offer something from the heart,” a spokesperson for Beyond Conscious said. “Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music transcended borders. And PM Modi’s leadership has done the same we felt this style was the most powerful way to express our admiration and respect.”
The release sits within a fast-growing category of AI-generated devotional and political music in India, where low production costs and widening access to generative audio tools have allowed small channels to publish finished tracks without studios, session musicians or vocalists. The trend has drawn debate among performers and musicologists over authorship, stylistic imitation of identifiable artists, and the labour it displaces — questions that remain largely unsettled in Indian copyright law.
Beyond Conscious said the track is available on its YouTube channel and across major streaming platforms, and reported growing engagement following the release, including among listeners in the Indian diaspora.
The channel describes itself as focused on devotional, cultural and inspirational music produced using artificial intelligence, with an audience spread across YouTube and streaming services.
