Nitish Kumar’s Future Hangs in Balance as NDA Dodges Leadership Question; VIP Chief Sahni Rejects Rajya Sabha Offer, Skips Electoral Battle

Patna/New Delhi, October 17, 2025 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day Bihar visit has sparked intense speculation about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political future. During a 15-minute meeting at Kumar’s residence this morning, Shah declared that NDA will contest under Nitish’s leadership, but the CM’s post will be decided by MLAs only after winning.

“BJP and Bihar’s people trust Nitish Kumar completely. The legislative party will decide the next CM after our victory,” Shah stated, leaving the leadership question deliberately open.

HAM-S chief Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed concern, insisting, “The CM candidate should have been announced before elections. Fortunately, NDA remains united, but there should be no confusion.”

Meanwhile, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) supremo Mukesh Sahni dropped a bombshell by refusing to contest from Gaura Bauram (Darbhanga), fielding his brother Santosh Sahni instead. Rejecting Congress’s Rajya Sabha offer, Sahni declared, “We don’t want Rajya Sabha,we want Deputy CM.”

The Mahagathbandhan faces seat-sharing chaos with Congress announcing 48 candidates while RJD has released no official list. Today marks the final nomination date for the first phase covering 11 seats, with voting scheduled for November 6.
