With the second phase of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election scheduled tomorrow, authorities in Bihar ramp up security after a deadly explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort.

In the wake of the dramatic car explosion near Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in New Delhi, which claimed at least eight lives and injured several others, a high-alert has been sounded across the northern states , especially in poll-bound Bihar.
Bihar’s Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, confirmed that heightened vigilance is in place for the second and final voting phase of the state elections scheduled for 11 November. Security measures have been particularly reinforced in border districts adjacent to Nepal such as Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Araria and Kishanganj, while railway stations, bus depots and highways are under strict monitoring and vehicle checks.
The Delhi blast, which occurred around 6:52 p.m., involved a slow-moving car exploding and setting off a chain reaction of vehicle fires. While investigations are underway by multiple agencies, the timing has heightened anxiety in Bihar, where authorities were already implementing robust election-security protocols.
As voters prepare to cast their ballots for 122 seats in 20 districts, state and central forces have been deployed in strength. Officials emphasise that the combination of election-related movement and the security alert demands extra caution , both by the electorate and by enforcement teams on the ground.
