Capital records coldest March day in six years, cleanest air in five months and now a dense fog blanket rare for this time of year

Delhi woke to an extraordinary Saturday , a thick fog shrouding the capital and neighbouring Noida on Eid-ul-Fitr morning, a meteorological anomaly rarely witnessed this late in March.
Visuals from Jama Masjid, where large crowds gathered for Eid prayers, captured the ethereal fog-draped skyline as worshippers arrived in the cool, crisp air. The unusual weather comes just a day after Delhi recorded its coldest March day in six years alongside its cleanest Air Quality Index reading in five months , a rare atmospheric trifecta for a city accustomed to pre-summer heat by this point.
The India Meteorological Department, however, anticipates temperatures gradually recovering, with Saturday’s maximum expected to stabilise between 27°C and 29°C as the day progresses.
