Actor announces new Hollywood project as Nick Jonas and fans shower support online
Priyanka Chopra continues to build her Hollywood portfolio with a new announcement: she will star opposite Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe in the sci-fi action thriller Bluefly. The actor shared the news on Instagram on Thursday with a simple caption, “On to the next,” prompting an outpouring of excitement from fans and her husband, Nick Jonas, who cheered her on in the comments alongside actor Huma Qureshi.
Directed by Nimród Antal, Bluefly is written by David Frigerio, William Eubank, and Carlyle Eubank. According to Deadline, the film follows a grieving UN translator drawn into a black-ops mission in the Congo to recover a downed aircraft that officially doesn’t exist, as a Special Operations team pushes into militia-held territory only to discover the mission is far more dangerous than it appears.
The project is backed by a multi-company production team, including Polite Society, Broken Open Pictures, G2 Dispatch, and Highland Film Group. Highland’s COO Delphine Perrier described the film as a suspense-driven story with a strong ensemble cast, expressing enthusiasm about presenting it to global buyers.
Crowe, celebrated for his Oscar-winning turn as Maximus in Gladiator, adds significant star power to the project.
The announcement comes as Chopra also prepares for her return to Indian cinema in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, marking her first Indian film in eight years. The film is slated for an April 2027 releas
