New Ernakulam–Bengaluru semi high-speed train to boost tourism, trade, and regional connectivity


08 November,Ernakulam :Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the Ernakulam–KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, marking Southern Railway’s first inter-state semi high-speed train linking Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The launch marks a milestone in South India’s transport network, enhancing connectivity across three major states.
The eight-coach premium service will operate through key cities such as Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem before reaching Krishnarajapuram and Bengaluru. The new link is expected to benefit commuters across sectors including business, education, healthcare, tourism, and pilgrimage, officials said.
With a maximum speed of 160 kmph, the Vande Bharat Express promises faster and more comfortable travel. Chair car tickets are priced at ₹1,095, while executive class fares are ₹2,289
.Railway officials emphasized that the new route will significantly reduce travel time between Ernakulam and Bengaluru and strengthen trade and tourism ties between Kerala and Karnataka via Tamil Nadu.
The train is among four new Vande Bharat services inaugurated by the Prime Minister, underlining the government’s focus on expanding India’s semi high-speed rail network and improving passenger experience across regions.
