Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha says four nations have offered ceasefire proposals; Kyiv open to energy and Black Sea truc

New Delhi: Ukraine has received ceasefire proposals from India, Turkey, Egypt and the US, with New Delhi’s plan described as the most comprehensive of the four, Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters in Kyiv, Sybiha said Ukraine was open to several truce formats, including one along the front lines, provided it halts attacks on energy facilities and port infrastructure and covers the Black Sea. Turkey and Egypt have proposed a Black Sea truce to revive grain exports, while the US plan centres on an energy ceasefire.

Sybiha added that a truce could emerge from a meeting between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin. Details of India’s proposal and its timing remain unclear, and Indian officials have not commented.

On Thursday, Putin told the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow that Prime Minister Narendra Modi raises the conflict at every meeting, praising his neutral stance and ideas for a peaceful solution.

Modi and Putin met at the SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan in August and again before the Brics Summit in New Delhi. External affairs minister S Jaishankar visited Kyiv in September.
