Press conference at 4 pm expected to outline polling phases for West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry

The Election Commission of India will announce the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and the Union Territory of Puducherry on Sunday. The poll body has scheduled a press conference at 4 pm where details of the election phases and polling dates are expected to be released.

The terms of the current assemblies in these regions are set to expire between May and June, making the announcement a key step toward initiating the electoral process. Ahead of the declaration, the Commission completed a special intensive revision of voter lists, and the final electoral rolls have already been published.

Earlier this week, the Commission held a crucial meeting in New Delhi to finalise the poll timetable and preparedness strategy. The full bench, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, reviewed arrangements after returning from multi-state ground assessments.
