Actor unhurt, but his driver and an autorickshaw driver take bullets; Bishnoi gang claims attack as police probe the motive

Mumbai, October 19: Police have detained three people in Kota, Rajasthan, in connection with Sunday evening’s shooting at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area.

Three men on a motorcycle opened fire on the actor’s vehicle near Pushpa Park on October 18. Shroff escaped serious injury, but his driver and a passing autorickshaw driver suffered gunshot wounds.

Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams to track down the attackers and are studying CCTV footage and forensic evidence. The motorcycle believed to have been used in the attack was recovered near Andheri railway station, where the assailants were reportedly seen fleeing.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility. In social media posts, two alleged operatives, Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, said they carried out the attack. The posts also warned members of the film industry against working with Salman Khan or ignoring the gang’s warnings. Police have not officially confirmed the gang’s involvement, and the motive remains under investigation.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Shroff after the attack.

The incident has renewed concerns about the safety of film personalities in Mumbai. The Bishnoi gang has previously been linked to the April 2024 firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence and the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique later that year.
