Brings 500 Additional Innovation Labs to Transform J&K’s Educational Landscape

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the ATL Sarthi initiative at the University of Kashmir today, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into an innovation-driven society. The program establishes the university as a nodal institution collaborating with NITI Aayog to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and institutional linkages with Atal Tinkering Labs across Jammu and Kashmir.

The initiative focuses on comprehensive mentorship, capacity building for ATL teachers, and guiding students to transform innovative ideas into commercial prototypes. LG Sinha highlighted the steady transformation of J&K’s innovation ecosystem, noting significant student-led innovation rises in Jammu, Udhampur, Rajouri, Kulgam, Shopian, Srinagar, and other districts.

Expressing gratitude to PM Modi, the Lieutenant Governor announced 500 additional Atal Tinkering Labs for J&K under the Frontier Region Program, representing a Rs 100 crore investment. These labs will extend inclusive innovation to remote and tribal areas while addressing local challenges in agriculture, handicrafts, tourism, and disaster management.

The ceremony featured the release of a coffee table book celebrating successful ATL student innovations and showcased project stalls by young innovators. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and other senior officials attended the event.

LG Sinha emphasized the landmark Rs 1 lakh crore research and development fund’s role in accelerating progress across high-priority sectors, including quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
