Alliance Projects Unity as Seat-Sharing Deal Seals Electoral Strategy

Patna : In a pivotal announcement on Sunday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) declared its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Under the accord, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) [JDU] will contest 101 seats each in the 243-member House.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, has been allotted 29 seats, reflecting his growing leverage within the alliance. Meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will each contest 6 seats.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who announced the deal via social media, described the distribution as a result of “cordial and constructive negotiations.” He added that all NDA partners welcomed the outcome, signaling unity ahead of a tightly contested election.

The seat-sharing arrangement marks a rare parity between BJP and JDU for the first time since their alliance began in 1996, both parties will contest an equal number of seats. Critics, however, point to potential instability in the alliance, especially among smaller parties like HAM and RLM, which have expressed concerns over limited allocations.

As the Mahagathbandhan opposition finalizes its own strategy, NDA now enters the battlefield with a clear, calibrated front. The stage is set for an intensely fought campaign across Bihar
