French President’s Dhurandhar-scored farewell video becomes the most talked-about diplomatic sign-off of 2026

When French President Emmanuel Macron wrapped up his three-day state visit to India, he chose not to exit quietly. Instead, he chose Bollywood.

On Thursday, Macron posted a montage on X capturing his India highlights from a ceremonial welcome in Mumbai and a street jog to meetings with PM Narendra Modi and Google CEO Sundar Pichai all set to Jogi, the thumping title track from Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar. The caption was simply: “Thank You India! “

The internet erupted. “That Dhurandhar song in the background is just lit,” one user wrote. Others called it “Goated diplomacy.”

But beyond the viral moment lies real substance. India and France elevated their bilateral ties to a Special Global Strategic Partnership during the visit , deepening cooperation in defence, AI and critical minerals. Macron declared the bilateral relationship to be at its “highest point” and said both nations want to do considerably more.

The farewell video may have been filmy , but the friendship it celebrated is firmly strategic. Bollywood, it seems, is now fluent in diplomacy
