India and Israel deepen their strategic embrace as the Prime Minister touches down in Tel Aviv for a high-stakes two-day summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Israel for his second state visit in nine years, carrying an agenda as layered as the region’s history. Addressing the Knesset on Wednesday before holding delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi is expected to sign multiple MoUs spanning defence technology, cybersecurity, agriculture, and trade.

The visit builds on the “strategic partnership” forged during his 2017 Tel Aviv trip a relationship that grew sharper edges during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, when Indian forces deployed Israeli-origin missiles and loitering munitions against Pakistan. Israel has since agreed to share cutting-edge defence technologies with New Delhi.

Balancing the bonhomie, India reaffirmed its support for Palestinian statehood last week walking a careful diplomatic tightrope between an old ally and a long-held principle.
