PM urges young travellers to spotlight border tourism, local culture and homegrown products under Viksit Vibrant Village Programme
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on India’s youth to become active ambassadors for the country’s border villages, urging them to spread the word about these remote regions and draw more young travellers to visit.
Addressing participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme 2026 via video link, Modi described the initiative as a shared journey toward national unity, saying that a deeper understanding of border villages among young people would, in turn, deepen their understanding of India itself. He noted that such firsthand exposure could not be replicated in a classroom and encouraged participants to pass on their experiences to at least a hundred peers each, while staying in touch with the communities they had visited.
The Prime Minister said rising visitor numbers would speed up the delivery of infrastructure and public amenities to border areas, and asked participants to document their travels through photos, videos and social media — to widen their reach. He also suggested partnering with local content creators to highlight the region’s scenery and heritage, and to help carry border villages’ local products to markets across the country.
Calling young Indians the driving force and biggest beneficiaries of Viksit Bharat, Modi said their direct engagement with national challenges would shape a brighter future for the country.
