Opposition plans a Connaught Place-to-SC march at 3 pm as Delhi enters a third day of protest-related restriction

New Delhi, October 12: The Opposition’s campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is heading to the Supreme Court. Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi announced on Monday that INDIA bloc leaders would file a petition at 3 pm against Kumar and the alleged “vote chori” (vote theft).
Speaking at a press conference at Indira Bhawan, Gandhi said the bloc would march from Connaught Place to the Supreme Court to protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He invited everyone to join, saying even BJP members were welcome.
Gandhi also made a striking claim. He told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that about 200 officers within the government were in touch with the Opposition and passing on information. He gave no details, and the claim could not be independently verified.
The announcement follows two days of heavy security and mass detentions in the capital over the Cockroach Janta Party’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar. Police detained around 7,000 people on Saturday alone. Roads leading to Jantar Mantar remain barricaded, and personnel are posted at key intersections.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued a fresh advisory late on Sunday, warning of diversions and restrictions across New Delhi and central Delhi from 6 am, depending on conditions on the ground
