Fresh recruits head to five new districts; 24 family quarters and a new identity for Fire & Rescue Service unveiled

Leh, October 6: Ladakh Police added 114 newly trained Special Police Officers to its ranks on Monday as Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena reviewed the valedictory function and passing-out parade at the Police Training School, Stongsar.
The new SPOs will be posted to the recently created districts of Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Drass and Zanskar, extending police presence into remote, hard-to-reach areas. The ceremony also marked the completion of pre-promotional courses by 99 serving personnel, ranging from Sub-Inspectors in line for promotion to Inspectors to Police Followers moving up to Constables.

Saxena took the salute at the march past and presented awards for best overall, indoor, outdoor and marching performance. The Chief Drill Inspector was also honoured.
Praising the force for working in some of the country’s harshest conditions, the L-G said that a higher rank brings greater responsibility, leadership and accountability. He stressed legal knowledge, investigative skill, technology and integrity as the foundations of modern policing.
He also inaugurated 24 two-BHK family quarters, built for ₹11.04 crore and designed for Ladakh’s severe climate, for personnel from Follower to Head Constable rank.
The Ladakh Fire & Rescue Service received its own emblem, flag, logo and badges, along with a new website offering Fire NOC services, safety guidelines and emergency contacts. A Comprehensive Fire Safety Handbook covering prevention, evacuation and rescue was also released for citizens and institutions.
