LG emphasizes women empowerment, renewable energy adoption and cooperative movement as pillars of Ladakh’s transformation
Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta outlined his vision for making Ladakh a national benchmark in sustainable governance while addressing the LEAD Impact Conclave here today, highlighting the region’s unprecedented transformation since achieving Union Territory status.
Speaking to an audience of social entrepreneurs, civil society members, and sector representatives, Gupta emphasized that Ladakh’s development model prioritizes harmony between economic progress, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility. “Our endeavour is to ensure that Ladakh becomes a benchmark of balanced development,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
Gupta showcased his administration’s multi-pronged approach focusing on education, healthcare, and tourism as primary drivers of growth. He specifically highlighted the recently launched “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” campaign, designed to improve women’s health through comprehensive awareness and medical access programs.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed his commitment to strengthening Ladakh’s cooperative movement, particularly emphasizing women’s empowerment through initiatives like GI-tagged Pashmina production. “With the GI Tag, artisans, particularly women, are gaining recognition and building better incomes,” Gupta noted, positioning local craftsmanship as a source of regional pride and economic opportunity.
Addressing infrastructure development, Gupta outlined ongoing improvements in road connectivity and digital access across the territory. His administration’s focus on renewable energy adoption and paperless governance has positioned Ladakh as a model for other states and Union territories.
“We will not just make plans but implement them. We will turn ideas into action,” Gupta concluded, reinforcing his commitment to transforming Ladakh into a land of inclusive, modern, and environmentally responsible development that ensures prosperity reaches every household.
