Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing shatters North American opening records, overtakes Nolan’s The Odyssey and Michael’s lifetime haul en route to projected $2 billion finish


Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the $1-billion mark globally in just six days, including early previews across several international markets, making it the second-fastest film in history to reach the milestone , trailing only Avengers: Endgame. Trade analysts now expect the film to comfortably clear $2 billion before its theatrical run concludes.
The film posted the largest opening in North American box office history, earning $360 million domestically over its first three days, while international markets including India, where it opened a day early with Wednesday previews , contributed $572 million in the same window. A strong Monday added $47 million domestically and further overseas gains, pushing its worldwide total to $1.053 billion and making it 2026’s second-highest grosser, trailing Toy Story 5 by just $15 million.
The film’s rapid ascent has already outpaced Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which opened two weeks earlier to $260 million worldwide and stood at $923 million as of Monday despite its head start. Brand New Day has also surpassed the final lifetime totals of Michael ($1.016 billion), The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.011 billion), The Devil Wears Prada 2 ($691 million) and Project Hail Mary ($684 million).
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film reunites Holland with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, and also features Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal.
