Actor defends Lalbaugcha Raja visit with Govinda as a prayer for their film Roopa, takes veiled swipes at Divya Khossla and Sunita Ahuja
Mumbai: Actor Komal Rani Swarnkar, rumoured to be romantically linked with Govinda, has responded sharply to Divya Khossla’s criticism of her wearing sindoor during a visit to Lalbaugcha Raja with the actor.
In a long Instagram note that named no one, Komal said the visit was simply to seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings for their upcoming film, Roopa. She questioned why it had become a national issue, pointing out that other actresses routinely make public appearances with male co-stars to promote their films.
Komal accused certain actresses with fading careers of latching onto controversies to stay in the limelight. She said she would take no lessons on sindoor, marriage or Indian traditions from women whose own marriages were crumbling, and described her critics as “man-eaters” who ruin their husbands’ dignity. She also made pointed personal insinuations widely seen as aimed at Sunita Ahuja.
The row began when Govinda and Komal visited the pandal on the same day Sunita went alone. Divya later accused Komal of using religion for her agenda. Govinda has denied any affair, calling the association purely professional.
