West Bengal CM urges Muslim voters to back BJP on October 6, claims TMC has “ceased to exist” after split

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday made a direct outreach to minority voters in Nandigram, assuring them the BJP would not compel them to chant “Jai Shri Ram” and that “Bharat Mata ki Jai” would suffice.
Speaking at a rally in Muslim-dominated Birulia Bazar, Adhikari called the October 6 bypoll an auspicious moment to extend friendship to the BJP. At Debipur and Narayanchak, he repeated the pitch, offering minorities a partnership in development while noting they had not voted for him in 2021 or 2026. He cited schemes such as PM Awaas and Annapurna Yojana as benefiting the community.
The seat fell vacant after Adhikari, who won both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, chose to give it up. BJP has fielded Hasirani Rath, mother of his former aide Chandranath Rath, who was shot dead on May 6. Adhikari alleged the killing was linked to the “bhaipo” gang, claiming CBI has made arrests.
He also mocked the TMC, saying its name and symbol had vanished after the Election Commission allotted separate identities to its two factions.
