



In a strategic meeting held today in Leh, Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta reinforced his commitment to leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility as the primary catalyst for Ladakh’s developmental transformation, outlining how public-private partnerships can address the Union Territory’s unique high-altitude challenges.
During today’s high-level discussions with HDFC Bank representatives and key implementing partners including CII Foundation, Citizens Foundation, Himmotthan Society, and PHIA Foundation, Gupta articulated his comprehensive vision of CSR as a critical supplement to government initiatives across education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, environment, and skill development sectors.
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted ongoing transformative projects including comprehensive waste management systems, apricot value chain development in the Sham region, renewable energy promotion, and women’s empowerment through handloom training programs. These initiatives demonstrate tangible social and economic impact while fostering local entrepreneurship and job creation in Ladakh’s challenging terrain.
Gupta’s administration is actively facilitating grassroots reach of CSR programs, ensuring long-term community impact. During concurrent meetings with local delegations, he addressed diverse developmental needs from the Ladakh Buddhist Association’s sarai construction request in Kargil to Trans-Singge La villagers’ delimitation concerns and Sheynam’s community pasture fencing requirements.
“CSR-driven partnerships between government, corporate sector, and civil society are crucial for addressing Ladakh’s unique developmental challenges,” Gupta emphasized, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to scaling impactful initiatives that strengthen local economies and build resilient communities across the Union Territory.
