New YouTube-based learning platform aims to bridge educational gaps across remote regions of Ladakh

The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has taken a major stride in digital learning with Lieutenant Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta launching the ‘Kargil Digital Classroom’ YouTube channel at Raj Niwas, Kargil. The initiative, unveiled on November 10, marks a transformative move toward integrating technology with education in one of India’s most geographically challenging regions.
Developed through a collaboration between the District Administration Kargil, DIPR Kargil, DIET Kargil, and the Education Department, the project aims to make high-quality educational content accessible even in the remotest villages. Senior officials including CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, MP Ladakh Mohmad Haneefa Jan, and representatives from the district administration and education fraternity attended the launch.
Addressing the gathering, the LG praised the administration for its forward-thinking approach, emphasizing that digital platforms are critical for democratizing education. He noted that the initiative reflects the vision of Digital India championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He further highlighted the UT Administration’s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure, promoting e-learning, and ensuring equal opportunities for every child. The LG urged teachers to embrace modern teaching tools and fully utilize digital resources to enrich classroom learning.
Expressing optimism, the LG said the initiative would significantly enhance the quality, accessibility, and inclusiveness of education across Kargil’s remote areas. He congratulated the Hill Council, DIET, and all stakeholders for setting a new benchmark in educational innovation.
