Parliament proceedings halted multiple times as protests prevent Narendra Modi from replying to Motion of Thanks on President’s Address

Parliament witnessed unprecedented chaos on Wednesday as a group of women opposition MPs carrying banners surrounded the Prime Minister’s seat, preventing Narendra Modi from delivering his scheduled reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address.
Lok Sabha proceedings commenced at 11 am but were adjourned within ten minutes due to continuous sloganeering and disruptions. The House reconvened at 12 pm, only to face immediate adjournment again amid escalating confrontations between opposition and BJP members.
Despite attempts to resume at 5 pm for the Prime Minister’s speech, persistent disorder forced Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House for the entire day. The slugfest between treasury and opposition benches created an impasse, with proceedings now postponed until Thursday.
The incident marks a significant escalation in parliamentary tensions during the Budget session, highlighting deep political divisions over the President’s Address.
