Two-day immersive cultural journey transports visitors to India of 2,000 years ago through storytelling, theatre, and classical arts

The second edition of “Kalidas Ka Kathaalok: The Great Indian Storytelling Festival” opened today at Purana Qila, New Delhi, offering visitors an immersive time-travel experience into the literary world of Mahakavi Kalidasa. Organized by Samay Yaan in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, the festival runs through February 8, beginning daily at 11 AM.

The event features classical music performances, theatrical presentations, storytelling sessions, and interactive experience zones designed to explore ancient India’s philosophical questions around love, power, nature, and society. Visitors can engage with thematic installations including ancient attars, Brahmi script exhibits, and Sur Samay Yaan musical displays positioned throughout the historic fort complex.

Project Head Bharti Dhingra emphasized that the festival creates an atmosphere encouraging reflection and dialogue rather than instructional presentations, allowing the past to feel present through physical and emotional engagement with history. The venue’s 360-degree views of Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and other heritage landmarks enhance the temporal journey visitors undertake through this confluence of literature, history, and living art
