Hindu family’s bodies discovered in locked house in Rangpur; CID and police launch investigation


Four members of a Hindu family were found dead under suspicious circumstances in Rangpur city, Bangladesh, including a retired school teacher, his wife, daughter and son. The bodies were recovered from a locked house on Saturday night, prompting police, CID and the Detective Branch to launch investigations.
The deceased were identified as Ganapati Chakraborty (65), a retired teacher at Rangpur District School who retired on December 31 last year and had since been practicing homeopathy; his wife Pritilata Chakraborty (50); daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi (23), who had recently completed her Master’s in English; and son Priyam Chakraborty (12), a fifth-grade student.
Family members said contact was lost after Thursday afternoon, when Pritilata’s sister Puja Chakraborty last spoke to her, following which all phones were switched off. Relatives arrived at the Daspara-area home Saturday night to find the gate locked and lights off, and alerted police, who broke in to find the bodies scattered across different parts of the house , Ganapati on the rooftop, his wife and daughter near the stairs, and Priyam under a bed.
Relatives say the family had no known disputes. The exact cause and timeline of the deaths remain under investigation.
