Five-year plan targets 300+ startups, six lakh trained students, and 50 AI-driven public services as state aligns with Centre’s IndiaAI vision
The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, cleared a ₹500 crore Artificial Intelligence Mission on Wednesday at a meeting held in Mahanadi Bhawan the state’s largest-ever commitment to AI-driven development. Spread across five years, the mission is designed to strengthen governance, accelerate emerging technology adoption, build workforce skills, and expand the digital economy.
Key components include the establishment of 100 AI Data Labs, five Centres of Excellence, and support for over 300 AI startups. The plan also targets training six lakh students and 1.5 lakh government employees in AI applications, alongside rolling out more than 50 AI-enabled public services. The mission dovetails with the Union government’s IndiaAI Mission, positioning Chhattisgarh among states racing to build AI-ready infrastructure and talent pipelines.
Separately, the Cabinet approved concessional land allotment to BEML for the state’s first Heavy Earth Moving Equipment plant, cleared the first phase of the Works and Account Management Information System (WAMIS), and amended rural road scheme guidelines dropping mandatory MGNREGA earthwork and adding village lane concrete road construction
