Dry weather likely across Delhi-NCR; maximum temperature may touch 34°C as pollution levels remain a concern

Delhi began Friday with a slightly cooler morning, with the minimum temperature settling at 23.2°C at Safdarjung, the city’s base weather station, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The reading was 0.8°C lower than Thursday’s 24°C and 0.1°C below the seasonal normal. Other parts of the capital also reported relatively pleasant morning temperatures. The Ridge recorded 21.2°C, followed by Lodhi Road at 22.3°C, Palam at 22.5°C and Ayanagar at 22.8°C, according to observations recorded at 8.30am.

The IMD forecast largely clear skies and dry conditions across Delhi-NCR, with no significant rainfall expected. The maximum temperature is likely to reach around 34°C during the day.

Weather officials said the system that had recently brought cooler conditions and rainfall to the capital has moved away. With reduced cloud cover and rainfall activity, temperatures are expected to gradually rise.

Meanwhile, air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category but showed a slight deterioration. Delhi’s city-level AQI stood at 173 at 9am on Friday, compared with Thursday’s 24-hour average of 166. PM10 was identified as the prominent pollutant.
