Sailing and wrestling bring more medals and progress as Lovlina Borgohain eyes boxing gold

Aichi-Nagoya, Oct 2 : India made a strong start to Day 14 of the 2026 Asian Games, winning a historic gold in women’s recurve archery and adding a silver in the mixed team event.
Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod defeated South Korea in the women’s recurve team final to win India’s first-ever gold in the event at the Asian Games.
The Indian trio also became the first Indian team to defeat South Korea in an Asian Games final in this event, according to the live update.
India followed the gold with silver in the mixed team recurve event. Kumkum Mohod and Dhiraj Bommadevara lost 3-5 to China in the final, securing India’s first silver in the event at the Asian Games.
Sailing added two more medals to India’s tally. Nethra Kumanan won bronze in the women’s dinghy event, her first Asian Games medal.
Harshita Tomar and Shital Verma were also awarded bronze in the women’s skiff event after China’s disqualification from two races moved the Indian pair up to third place.
In wrestling, Sujeet Kalkal advanced to the men’s freestyle 65kg semifinals after beating Iran’s Abbas Ebrahimzadehsavadkouhi 10-0 by technical superiority.
Attention now shifts to boxing, where Lovlina Borgohain takes on China’s Bao Ziyi in the women’s 75kg final. India’s women’s hockey team is also scheduled to face China in the gold-medal match.
