Two-phase enumeration to mark shift to tech-driven data collection for Census 2027

The Census 2027 exercise will commence in Andhra Pradesh from April 16, introducing a fully digital system for data collection, officials said on Wednesday. The process will be conducted in two phases, beginning with the houselisting and housing census, followed by the population enumeration.
Authorities stated that the initial phase will involve mapping residential structures and assessing infrastructure to streamline logistics and manpower deployment. The upcoming census marks a significant transition from traditional methods to digital enumeration, aimed at improving accuracy and efficiency.
Officials emphasized that the data gathered will play a crucial role in policy formulation, welfare schemes, and infrastructure planning. Citizens have been urged to cooperate and provide accurate information, with warnings of legal action against those obstructing the process.
Preparations, including administrative restructuring and field staff appointments, have already been completed across the state.
