Campaign marks 250 years of American independence, highlights strengthening India-US ties

The United States Embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday launched the ‘Freedom 250’ celebrations, commemorating 250 years of American independence, with a unique public outreach campaign featuring themed auto-rickshaws across the capital.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor unveiled the initiative, showcasing autos adorned with images of Donald Trump and iconic American symbols. The vehicles will travel across the city as part of a broader campaign leading up to July 4, 2026-the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Describing the launch as the beginning of a nationwide celebration, the envoy said the initiative also reflects the growing strength of India-US relations.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu attended the event and underscored the importance of deeper collaboration between the two countries, particularly in technology and investment. He noted that the bilateral partnership continues to play a vital role in global progress and development.

The Declaration of Independence, adopted on July 4, 1776, marked the formal separation of 13 American colonies from British rule, laying the foundation for the United States as a sovereign nation.
