Satirical social media outfit emerges a day after PM Modi’s ‘dimagi Naxal’ remark, using “Think | Research | Resist” as its motto

The satirical social media group calling itself the ‘Dimagi Naxal Party’ has rapidly gained attention online, emerging a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the term “dimagi Naxals” in his Independence Day address.
The party’s Instagram account reportedly crossed 1.8 lakh followers within 24 hours. Its X account, named ‘Dimagi Naxal Janta Party’, has also attracted thousands of followers.
The group describes its motto as “Think | Research | Resist.” Its social media profiles say it follows the ideology of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and presents itself as a platform for questioning and resistance.
The group also claimed on X that its Instagram account had faced cyberattacks. It urged followers to support the account, saying attempts to curb its online presence would not silence its voice.
The emergence of the satirical party follows Modi’s Independence Day warning against what he called “dimagi Naxals”. The Prime Minister said that although armed Maoist violence had been significantly weakened, people sympathetic to the ideology could still influence young people.
His remarks triggered a political row. Congress leaders criticised the terminology. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said he was “proud” to be a “dimagi Naxal”, while Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused the Prime Minister of using increasingly aggressive labels against his critics.
Union minister Kiren Rijiju defended Modi’s remarks, saying the Prime Minister was not referring to Opposition leaders. He said the term was meant for those who support Maoists, separatism or positions opposed to the Constitution.
