Lakhs Lost, Spirit Unbroken: Red Fort Ramleela Rises After Downpour
New Delhi – The world-renowned Luv Kush Ramleela at Red Fort witnessed significant disruption on Tuesday morning as heavy torrential rains led to waterlogging across several parts of the leela Ground, causing substantial damage to the event’s iconic effigies.
According to Arjun Kumar, President of the Luv Kush Ramleela Committee, water pumps were immediately deployed across the ground following the early morning downpour. “After nearly five hours of rigorous effort, we managed to drain water from almost the entire ground,” Kumar stated.
Despite the challenges, the show went on as scheduled, commencing at its usual time of 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening. Effigies Suffer Lakhs in Damages
The near-complete effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad bore the brunt of the heavy rainfall, suffering extensive damage. Kumar acknowledged that the organizers incurred losses running into lakhs of rupees due to the water damage.
However, the dedicated team of artisans present at the ground immediately began restoration work on the damaged effigies. “Our craftsmen have worked tirelessly and have largely completed the repair work,” Kumar added.
Traditional Dussehra Preparations On Track True to tradition, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad will be installed at the leela ground on Wednesday as planned, ensuring that the festival celebrations proceed without disruption.
The Luv Kush Ramleela at Red Fort is one of the most prestigious Ramleela performances in the country, drawing thousands of devotees and spectators during the festival season.
