New Delhi signals serious consequences as strikes on Indian-linked vessels raise fears over energy security and maritime safety

New Delhi, April 19 , India has issued a stern warning to Iran following recent attacks on two tankers linked to Indian interests in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, signalling growing concern over maritime security and energy supply disruptions.

According to officials, New Delhi conveyed that any threat to Indian vessels or nationals would invite serious consequences, as tensions continue to escalate in the region amid the ongoing Iran-US standoff. The incident, involving reported firing and projectile strikes, has heightened alarm within government and security circles.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, is essential for India’s energy imports, with a significant portion of crude supplies passing through the corridor. Any instability in the region poses direct risks to the country’s economic and energy security.

Government sources indicated that contingency plans are being reviewed to safeguard shipping routes and ensure uninterrupted supply chains. Diplomatic channels are also being actively engaged to de-escalate the situation.

The warning comes at a time when regional volatility remains high, with global powers closely monitoring developments that could further disrupt international trade and fuel markets.
